The car is totally original, with 8EL 337ci of heavy duty flathead Ford engine, also in the F7-F8 trucks! Incredible torque, and an over drive trans. Was redone about 15 years ago, but not done well. Still is a kick in the butt to drive.....
The chrome and stainless trim needs redone, bumpers are kinda crappy and needs redone - - so all the trim and chrome needs redone. Interior is good, accessories work including the radio, BUT not the clock. Also has original Lincoln magnetic base prism so you can see those overhead stop lights the visor blocks the view. Back seat - - OMG - - that's the one your girl fiends daddy did want his daughter occupying. And yes, it rides like a Lincoln.

I think you meant that the girlfriend's daddy DID NOT want her in the back seat of that car.......Reread the last line in your post....

One of the reason I like that car so much is when I was a young lad (18 years old) and before I met My little Angel I had a 1951 Mercury with a 1953 Lincoln V8 with three carbs that I chased a couple of girls all around NM & Arizona in until I blew a head gasket and the engine was never any good after that......
I had that talk that you are in reference too about that backseat with the daddy of one of those ladies but it was after we had all ready been there done that........I was not one of his favorites after he found out that little tidbit of info..... :)! :)! :)! :)! :)! :)! :)! :)! :)!

    You're one up on me - - I did not notice I had left out one VERY important word "NOT".... Didn't spell "friends" either.

Been there with a 51 Merc, Mike. The Lincoln is a far superior auto. While the Merc got all the glory of being the Lead Sled, the Lincoln was way out in front with luxury and cruisability!! :D :D And what I found strange - you couldn't here that big flatty running    So quiet :!:
In '49 Lincoln only had two models, the Lincoln Cosmopolitan (suicide doors) and the Lincoln Lincoln (two door).

Yes I understand the difference between the two cars but the back seat still had more than enough room for this 6' 5" young man.....if you know what I mean..........wink wink......
