I did the same Bill, played with the numbers for all the gears, not just the top gear. I haven't checked the site's calculator, does it lay it out for the the gears? I know when I played with the numbers I thought I sure didn't need the lower 1st gear that comes with OD trans, but I just short shift the first two gears anyway.

I don't need a calculator, I know I need a 700R4, but how long are those babies? I have less than an 18" driveshaft with a short tailpiece TH350.

I have a 3.74 rear end, running 31" tall tires and seems to me I'm doing 3500 rpm at 65 or so. It's been a couple years, so I don't remember eggsackly.

What would I have to do welding-wise or bolt-on bracket-wise to swap my TH350 out for a 700R4. Wouldn't need to worry much about balance on that driveshaft...

700 is 2 inches longer than a standard 350 turbo

Is there electronic/computer stuff I'd need to do, seeing there is no computer in the hot rod? What sort of stall rpm for the torque converter?

700R4 connected to a lightly modified GM 60V6 on one end, and a 3.73 Ford 8.8 locker on the other...in a light weight, short wheelbase T modified. Wellllll....at least that is what it will be when it's done.
