Garage Lighting

So the construction of my new garage is underway. I am beginning to think about lighting. It will be 1260 sf (28x45). Does anyone have any recommendations on type and amount of lighting? I would appreciate your help!

Mark, I would only go with LED's and I would use all 4 foot lights.

You can replace them easy and more cost effective. I buy mine at Sam's or Walmart.....

I like to make some of them come on with one wall switch.

I have replaced all of my florence bulbs with Leds. You will like them, much better//brighter and I would do some zones so you can light it up with less or more lights.....

As I lose a light in my shop I am replacing them with LED, cheap and better lighting for less power use . When I wired the shop I set each bay with it's own switch so I can turn on only what I need. You have been in my shop , each bay has 2 overhead 4 ft lights, and in the work bay which has the press , drill press, break and bead roller I have 3 overhead lights and then several units over the work benches . Make sure you put in plenty of wall plugs and if you are planning on a welder, make sure you have 220 volt plugs in several location. When I wired my brother in laws shop which is 36 X 32 I put in 34 boxes for 110 volt wall plugs, 6 boxes for 220 volt wall plugs and 16 boxes over head box to handle 16 lights and power for the garage door openers. Also plan on overhead boxes for the garage door openers and put them on there own breakers.

Don't forget outside lights and water proof plugs outside, makes it a lot safer when I have to run a power cord to the trailer.

May have been over kill but it's easer to put them in how then later.

All of them that I have tried have been great, Hell I don't even remember their names tell you the truth........LOL.....
