Note from the NTBA President
Hi All,
Not much new right now during the off season, but I wanted to stay in touch, because things will start getting exciting soon.
If you’ve been trying to call the Talley Ho Inn in Townsend, they are closed for January and February. They do have a recording saying they’ll get back to you, and are usually prompt about it. Again, all the reservations were forwarded from 2020 to the same corresponding days. Starting in March would be a good time to check in with them.
From my earlier post 2021 is an election year for the board positions of Vice President, Treasurer, and Secretary. So far we have both Lee Metcalfe and Chris Ward running for another term as Treasurer and Secretary. Running for Vice President is Dennis Neblock. This is the last call if anybody wants to run for any of these positions.
If anybody is having trouble finding the 2021 schedule it’s on the website under events, and on our Facebook page at the top under announcements (to the right of discussion). We have to make one date change, the Crawfish and Cruisin Fun Run, Gulfport, MS, in April is moved to the following weekend of the 15-17. Also remember to come early to Nationals in Tennessee. We will have activities starting on Monday, with a kick off dinner party on Wednesday night. We also need people knowledgeable of the Area to help with runs, and “shag wagon” drivers. Let either myself or Cory “Cooter” Cothern know.
Something we have to respectfully watch is still the COVID levels. All of us hope it’s ok to hold all the events, but realistically we have to keep it on our back burner and see how we’re doing as time approaches. I know everyone is ready for some good cruising, especially me!
That’s it for now, I’ll talk to you soon.

Re: Words & Thoughts from the President
Note from the NTBA President
Some of you are asking for more information on the Nationals event in Tennessee in June. At this point I can give you what I have with more to follow.
The NTBA National event is The week of June 7-12. The two host hotels are The Talley Ho Inn 865-448-2465 and The Tremont Lodge and Resort 865-448-3200. The campground is Big Meadow 865-448-0625. The Talley Ho is booked full but there are plenty rooms available at the Tremont. The two hotels are 1.1 mile apart and the RV Park is across the street between the two. There will be activities at both hotels. Truck and trailer parking will be in a huge lot at the Talley Ho along with the Registration room. At registration you will get a “goodie bag” with a complete schedule of days events, including runs, activities, restaurants, places of interests, etc. If your arriving late or can’t get the schedule before a departing run, I will post the entire daily schedule here and on the website before June, when we’ve finished it. I should have that by next month. Our pre event team is still gathering that information.
I can tell you that we will have seven runs available. The three big runs of 100 miles or more will be Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday. The other four of 50 miles or less will be Monday, Tuesday and Saturday. These smaller runs will be open or self guided runs, you can pick and choose and do either on your own or in smaller groups. These will all be announced. Remember, Townsend is a small town with only a few roads leading in and out, so these smaller “loop” runs are very scenic and easy to follow. Those of you interested in the Tail of the Dragon run we will actually do that twice. Once on Wednesday, and then go through again on Friday.
There will be a kick off burger burn on Wednesday, and a send off dinner on Friday. The NTBA meeting will be on Saturday morning. Keep in mind we will have a basket raffle on Saturday, 50/50 ticket raffles everyday, and event T Shirts available. We encourage you or your club to put together a basket of something from your town or area, to be raffled off on Saturday.
My idea is to get as much information as I can out to you, and if you don’t know the answer, you’ll know where to find it. That way nobody will feel or be left out. It’s going to be fun!

Re: Words & Thoughts from the President
A Note From The President
Hi All,
The NTBA scouting committee of Cory “Cooter”, Dennis, Rolla and myself just got back from three days in Townsend finalizing plans for the NTBA Nationals (NATS) June 7-12.
Those of you planning on going who have not made reservations, please go ahead and call for your rooms at the Tremont 865-448-3200. We are still 20 rooms short of a guaranteed quota. Others thinking to make their own reservations at other hotels or cabins to get a few dollars cheaper price, we encourage you to reconsider. We go to a lot of effort to work with the host hotels for the best price, and various discounts on meals, and amenities. It’s also the center point for all NTBA activities and announcements. We will have three announcement boards, one at the Talley Ho, one at the Tremont Inn, and one at the Big Meadow RV Park.
We will have seven different runs you can choose from. The officially led runs will be Wednesday, Thursday and Friday. Monday, Tuesday and Saturday will be shorter, around 50 miles or less, self guided and small group runs. Along with plenty of time for sight seeing and shopping in Townsend, Pigeon Forge and Gatlinburg. The three longer runs will be 100 to 185 miles round trip. This may sound long, but we will have plenty of gas, rest, and lunch stops. And the most beautiful scenery you can imagine. I will go into detail about what we recommend you bring on each run in your registration packet. Remember to be prepared with a full tank of gas, and whatever else your bringing, when you attend the drivers meeting. We leave shortly after it, and with over 120 cars departing we can’t wait for somebody to go fill their tank.
I’ll try to inform you about everything as much as I can. With a little bit of planning and preparation on everyone’s part it will be a safe and enjoyable event for all of you.
I’ve included a tentative (subject to change) schedule for the week. We’re still working on opening times for registration. Don’t forget to bring a basket from your area to be auctioned off at our raffle. The official event starts on Wednesday with the first led run, but we’re also doing fun things starting on Monday. So get ready, we’re going cruising!

A Note From The NTBA President
Hi All,
Unfortunately the North Star State Fun Run in Rochester, MN on July 29-31 has been cancelled. This was not due to COVID, but unforeseen circumstances that prevented Dave from putting this one on. Hopefully we’ll be able to get back into that area in the near future.
This will not effect our Nationals in Townsend or any other event.

A note from the President
Hi All,
For those of you that did not have the opportunity to attend Nationals in Townsend, here is some information on the 2022 Nationals announced during the meeting.
The 2022 Nationals will be held in Rapid City, South Dakota. We will be driving our buckets through the Black Hills National Forest seeing all the sights, including Mt. Rushmore, Crazy Horse, Custer State Park, town of Deadwood and many more. The hotel is the Holiday Inn Rushmore Plaza, this is a beautiful hotel right in Rapid City with plenty of trailer parking and easy access to our destinations. But, DO NOT CALL THE HOTEL! when you get done reading this! They start taking reservations within certain days out from the event. We should be able to call within a month or two. The system is not activated with our information yet. I will let you know when we can start. For those of you who chose to ignore this note and call anyway, you will get a reservation at the regular price $$$$ (you don’t want to know
).
At this time we do not have an RV Park set up. We’re working on that and will also let you know.
Even though it’s a year away, my favorite saying comes into place, “ it’ll be here before we know it!”

Re: Words & Thoughts from the President
After the business meeting on Saturday 6-12-2021 the members voted on and passed a price increase for the Dues going forward of $5.00 across the board.
The renewal cost after 7-1-2021 for people everywhere will be $30.00 and the new member cost will be $40.00
The increase is due to the cost of shipping with the USPS, that just keeps going up, and will again in October 2021.
Any member outside of the USA will have to pay additional shipping if they want a T shirt when they join up or renew their dues. That cost will be $40.00 in addition to the membership dues.
Thank you for your understanding....
