Headers and things ...

Well, the new headers from Speedway arrived Saturday and I spent the weekend coating the inside with ceramic paint to help prevent the discoloring. Started today to take the old headers off and figured it would be easier to take the extensions off with the old headers still on the engine. The left extension came off fairly easy, but the right side fought all the way … took over an hour to get the right side off.

Tomorrow will degrease and wax the new headers and then put them on. Hopefully the extension will slide on after I run a wire wheel inside the flange and apply a thin coating of grease.

More parts arrived from Summit today for my next project which involves the high rise tunnel ram intake and yet to be purchased dual plane adapters and two QFT 4 barrel carbs from Colorado Hot Rod Parts. That project will probably wait until after Nationals in Carson City in June.

Saturday the new seat frame with springs should be done and then it is off to the upholstery shop to get the leather off of the old configuration … foam glued to a piece of plywood … and get the foam and leather mounted on\in the new frame with springs. This should provided a better ride for my tired old T-Butt!

Did you get the stainless headers from Speedway? I bought a set and really like them--If they "dis-color" take an electric drill with a buffing pad and a little metal polish and they look like brand new in just a few minutes!!!!!

Plus they turn a golden color when they heat up. Love mine. In Branson in 2000 at the nats a vendor from Stainless specialties arrived with a pair of stainless headers which I thought were awesome for $1,100.00. Cartoon Bandit snapped them up. About a week later my live in girlfriend (now my wife) said UPS is at the door with a package for you. She had purchased a set for me when C B bought the only set he had with him. We had only been together for about a month at the time. Gotta love that woman. Funky

What kind of seat frame did you use as I have a CCR body too. And I would like to have a springs in the seat. If you have a picture of the seat frame I would like to see it. Thanks

so now add a sheet of plywood and some covering and your ready to goooooooooo.. u can never be too comphy..

original seat cushion is being renovated to fit on the springs.
