Rolla,

Glad to see you like that picture enough to make it your avatar. If you remember the story behind it, after driving 2600 miles in two days to be greeted by heat and humidity that I'm not accustomed to, I took a fair amount of pictures from the comfort of my 5th floor balcony and just used a long lens to frame the pictures. Yours was one of those lazy pictures, but does give a rather unique perspective.

And one from ground level........

Like I said, your ride is Internet famous and I wasn't disappointed when I finally after 3 years got to see it in person. I do believe it was the first pictures I took upon my arrival. Very much looking forward to capturing your fine ride with the Sierras, Lake Tahoe, and Carson City as the background next year.

Something like this, Mary Ann and Gilbert taking my picture at the same time I was taking theirs, northbound 395 just outside of Carson City. The one I took is facing westward with the Sierras that squeeze the moisture out of weather systems heading east, the picture Mary Ann took of me was facing eastward, where there is the dividing line for dryness.
