It was 32 years ago this morning I bought my T Bucket. Of course it wasn't called HiTec T at the time. That came maybe a year or so later. Like this morning, it was a rainy day as I was driving home. It was a 50 mile trip and I made it about 5 miles before the rain started. I ended having to put the top up and because the top didn't have the see through window yet, like it does now; It was very uncomfortable for me to drive that way. That is when I decided something needs to happen about that. I ran across a small stream flowing across I-70. Fortunately, I saw it in time to at least slow down before hitting it. I was doing maybe 30 to 40 MPH as I hit it. It was maybe 15 feet wide or so. I was actually traveling straight. I eased up on the throttle and just happen to be watching the speedometer and noticed it jump up about ?? 15 MPH or so. Fortunately, that was basically uneventful. I did have a divot in the seat under me after that though !!
about a minute up I 70 from there was a bridge. I pulled up and waited about ?? an hour or so for the rain to stop and roads start drying some.
I made it the rest of the way home without any other issues. I cleaned to car up and went for a cruise that evening. It was Saturday and I happened across a cruise at a Sonic drive inn. I met a guy that night and we became good friends. We remained good friends till he passed away about 20 years later.
I have met so many people and become good friends with many of them; AND it would have been pretty likely, no way I would have ever met them otherwise.
All in All, Saturday, July 11 1992, ( 7 - 11 ) was in fact good luck for me !! To this day after 32 years, I still feel it is good luck for me !!
I have made soooo many changes and upgrades to the car, but the general appearance and color scheme remains very similar to the original car.
