Mike this time next year they may have a Walmart. On the south side of town there is a huge dirt moving project taking place and it looks just like what Walmart does when they build..........

Mike, I think what you saw is a project to relocate millions of tons of mildly-radioactive ore processing tailings from a uranium mill that once stood there. They are loading into containers, then on to a dedicated train that hauls it to a rock-lined landfill somewhere near the center of the state. The concern was that the tailings were eroding into the Colorado River and possibly affecting wildlife down-stream. I read a story about it somewhere... maybe National Geographic.

Lee I saw that operation on the northwest side of town I think because I remember reading about that also..... I recon no one knows that this rock is called SHIPROCK................I learned about that rock in school before I ever saw it in real life...............Northwestern New Mexico.....
