INSURANCE REQUIREMENTS AT NATS!!!!!
Folks, as you saw on the registration forms for Nats this year, we will require ALL vehicles that wish to cruise during the event in Carson City to provide "PROOF OF INSURANCE" for your T-Bucket that is current and in effect. We had three separate accidents in Chattanooga and feel it is imparative that we protect our members investments to the best of our ability.
ANY VEHICLE NOT HAVING PROOF OF INSURANCE WILL NOT BE GIVEN THE EVENT WINDOW STICKER in their registration packet so we can easily identify who is able to do the cruises. PLEASE HAVE YOUR PROOF OF INSURANCE and NTBA ID Card WHEN YOU STOP BY REGISTRATION TO PICK UP YOUR PACKETS AND SHIRTS! We appreciate your cooperation and understanding! See you in a week or so in Carson City!!!!!
Everyone travel safe.

Just a suggestion: Maybe you should get a contact at the various specialty car insurance companies people can call if they don't have insurance, so they can get it on the spot. (It's not hard to get, but you need to know who to call.)

Seems to me Mike, if one is attending the nats and they have no insurance, then #1...it's too damn late and #2..why are they driving without insurance?

Some states don't require insurance. It wasn't all that long ago that it
was not illegal to drive in Texas without insurance it was only illegal to have an accident without insurance.

Re: INSURANCE REQUIREMENTS AT NATS!!!!!
In California it has been a requirement for so long it has come full circle. When I was young, if pulled over by a cop it would be "license and registration" as his request. Then for about 20+ years it was "license, registration, and proof of insurance". Now for about the last 15 years you can't get registration without proof of insurance so the cops are back to "license and registration". Because of this, proof of insurance is implied. When I read the need for paper proof for the NATS I had to have my insurance company send me the papers. I hope the NATS requirement doesn't throw anyone off guard who is from a state that requires insurance for registration and doesn't carry the POI.

It is nevada state law that you carry prof of Insurance if you are pulled over and don't have it you will be sited and have to go to court and prove you have it curent. I have seen them go as far as pulling plates off of cars and call a tow truck

Re: INSURANCE REQUIREMENTS AT NATS!!!!!
It is interesting to see the differences between states regarding registration and proof of insurance. I was towing our T Bucket and was stopped in Oklahoma on the way to the NATS in Colorado Springs and the officer asked for license and proof of insurance for the tow vehicle only - he didn't ask for registration. About a month ago I was stopped in Virginia and the officer asked for registration and license but didn't ask for proof of insurance. I did get a ticket in Oklahoma but not in Virginia. Insurance is required in Alabama but I haven't been stopped here for over 30 years so I don't know what they would ask for but . I always carry a copy of the registration and proof of insurance for every vehicle - if towing my T Bucket I have them for the tow vehicle, the trailer, and the T Bucket just to have the documentation that an officer in any state would ask for. Are there any states left that don't require insurance?

I do the same thing Lou. I carry a copy of the insurance cards for all of my vehicles and each one has a copy with the vehicle just in case someone else would get stopped. I got a warning dirving one of my friends cars in Iowa because there was no proof of insurance in the car

In New Mexico insurance is required to get registered and license plates and you are required to carry that info in the car...I have seen them impound a car for no insurance..........I always have them in the car no matter what state I am driving in/through.........
I even checked before I left home on this trip to make sure they were in there, so here I come Gilbert by way of California....................
