I thought it was just a matter of picking a number, put a few drops on the threads and tighten,
but that's not the case. Loctite dries in the absence of air and in the presence of metal ions. Or
what's referred to as an Active Metal.
OK, so what metals are active and which ones are inactive?
Sure wish it would put the image here, like it's suppose to!
So when I've been using SS bolts into aluminum, I wasn't getting Loctite to fully cure.
When you are installing a bolt into a blind hole, then it's recommended that you put several drops
in the bottom of the hold to displace the air. Remember if there is air it's not going to cure.
Loctite Instructions
- For best results, clean all surfaces (external and internal) with a LOCTITE® cleaner and allow to dry.
If the material is an inactive metal or the cure speed is too slow, spray all threads with an activator such as LOCTITE® 7471 or 7649 and allow to dry.
- Shake the product thoroughly before use.
- To prevent the product from clogging in the nozzle, do not allow the tip to touch metal surfaces during application.
- For thru holes, apply several drops of the product onto the bolt at the nut engagement area.
- For blind holes, apply several drops of the product down the internal threads to the bottom of the hole.
- Assemble and tighten as required.
- For sealing applications, apply a 360° bead of product to the leading threads of the male fitting, leaving the first thread free. Force the material into the threads to thoroughly fill the voids. For bigger threads and voids, adjust product amount accordingly and apply a 360° bead of product on the female threads also.
There are many different versions of Loctite threadlocker, the application charts below should be of some help.

It's been awhile since I tried to post something technical that needs to have the graphics in the right location within the text to make sense. Thought I would try it again, but it's still the same. Maybe I'll give it another try in a few years!!!

It is selling well. Took off quite fast but settled in. Maintenance folks lol it because they can carry it in their tool belts and takes very little space, plus non liquid or aerosol. We do sell the Nickel Anti- Sieze. Www.mscdirect.com. You can also get the Loctite Sticks on the website. Just type in the Loctite part # you want and it will give you the MSC part # Rick. Any questions give me a call.
