Ignition problem

Post by Bill Cleveland »

John Ashlock posts on fb: "Is there a ignition specialist on here that can help me with an ignition problem on my t bucket?"
.
Here's what he says: "Small block Chevy 383 stroker 2x4s Mallory unlite distributor I can start the car it'll run maybe a mile and a half and then dies, and won't start until AAA picks it up and drops it off in the driveway then it will start and again once it starts maybe a mile or two or three whatever and then it dies again as soon as it dies I hit the gas and there is gas going into the carburetor so there's it's getting gas I have put a new module in the distributor and then the car ran perfect for about 3-4 months and went back to doing it again I just replaced the coil it started fine but again I was just sitting there in the garage it ran about a minute minute and a half and then died and would not start till the next day. I used to have all the tools needed to check everything I'm now down to a minimum amount of tools and don't really have a way of checking the right now anyway checking the the spark. Again I did replace module in the distributor and that and it worked around fine like I said for about 3 or 4 months and then now it's going back to dying again any suggestions would be appreciated greatly!"

When I asked John if he solved the problem, this is his reply on fb: "I think so found an inexpensive distributor and going put on a balanced resistor first, try that; if that doesn't work then I'll put it in the new distributor."
