Swapping out a TH350 for a 700R4

I've been following this thread and was wondering what the weight difference is between the 700R4 and the TH350, and if it would make any difference.

Excellent question! The 700R4 weighs about 15 lbs more Jim. It makes a difference, but it's negligible.

I did some browsing after I posted the above and found out that some are saying that the 700R4 is about 35 pounds heavier than the TH350.

The TH350's case length is 21 5/8 inches. Depending on the tail shaft housing, its overall length can either be 27 5/8 or 30 5/8 inches. The 700R4's case length is 23 3/8 inches and its overall length is 30 3/8 inches. The TH350 weighs 120 lbs., while the 700R4 weighs 155 lbs.

My TH350 has the short tail shaft Bob, so it's the shortest one you'll find. The d-shaft yoke matches from what I'm told, so it's just a matter of lopping a couple inches of the d-shaft.

I'm gonna have a great TH350 for sale, along with whatever high stall converter I have. It's either 2800 or 3000, I forget, it's been so darn long. But boy, what a great tranny, never gave me one iota of trouble. I'm also gonna have some 15" wide 15" deep dish chrome wheels and baby moon hub caps for sale, 5" backspace...

Is stall rpm on torque converters somewhere?
