Widest Tire on a 10 Inch Rim...
Could someone please tell me what is the widest tire you can put on a 10 inch rim. I've got 285/70/15 on mine now, but I'd like to get a bit wider rear tires. Thanks for the help...

I'm using BFG 305/50 x 15's on mine, with American Torq-Thrusts, 10" width.

Roland, give Summit or Jegs a call and they can better advise you on how wide you should go on a 10" rim. I'm runnig 31x18.5 on 15 inch rims..

You can run a fairly wide tire on a 10" rim. 305/50's are nice, but BFG no longer makes this size - the largest they show is 295/50/15. I think Coker has the rights to make these in this size now. One thing to watch is that most of the wider tires that will fit will be shorter than you are running now. Your 285's are 11.22" wise with an overall height of 30.71" . A 305/50/15 will be 12.01" wide, but only 27.01" tall. So it will only be 3/4" of an inch wider, but 3-3/4" shorter!

Places like Discount Tire and NTB will tell you that the safest is 2 inches wider than wheel width. I'm running a 29x12.50x15 Hoosier Pro Street Tire on 15x10 American Racing Hopster Wheels. I have seen 31.5x15.5x15 Hoosier Pro Streets on a 15x10 wheel but the sidewall bulge was a little more than my liking. Depending on tire brand\construction, too much or too little sidewall bulge will effect your ride characteristics.
