Hard Rear Cover Advice Needed

Hi,

I want to put a hard (padded) cover on the rear of my T-Bucket in lieu of the tonneau-type that I have now. This is my first T-Bucket and my first attempt to do this type of project. I’d really appreciate any advice you may have about how to attach the cover and what method you may have utilized to raise, lower and latch (securely close) it. My 12 gallon gas tank is in the back along with several other items, papers, tool kit, etc. so I’ll need to have access to all of it. The entire back doesn’t (have) to open but having about 60% of it would accomplish my needs. It’s a Steel Body, 1923 Ford Model T. Thanks for any ideas you may have...

This is what I did on the back if the Yelot, Look at the back of the body and you will see a piano hinge on a piece of Alum that is attached to the body with blind rivets & Alum angle......It had a lock in the center at the back of the bed that locked under a small piece of Alum angle........

I did the engine turning on the whole sheet and then cut it for the hinge.........I hope you understand the way I did this bed that is no longer on the car cause I changed the body after this rebuild.........

Gas tank and storage under the cover............

I built a cover out of plywood then mounted it on sliding drawer rollers from Lowes ....attached a keyed toolbox type latch...then covered it to match the interior......

Lets see if I can upload these pics ..... you will have to click on them to make them bigger ..... as you can see the drawer slides are mounted to the top of the bed on wood rails and to the cover ....you just slide them together... the lock keeps the cover in and secure ...I hope this helps , everyone does them a little differently ....
