Flexible metal radiator hose

What is the trick to get these hoses to seal with the rubber sleeve and adapters that came with them? I continue to strip the clamps

I used them for a long time until the top hose split in the metal where it bent......I do not remember them being so hard to keep from leaking........I did change out the clamps that they came with for some that were made in the USA maybe that was the key...

My cure was simple. I quit trying to seal the cotton pickin' thing and went back to a black rubber hose and REAL American made stainless clamps. Ain't as pretty, but have never had another leak, or (chuckle chuckle) a Best of Show

I think that's the solution!

Wow, I have been thinking of doing that to dress up the engine. Maybe just keep the black rubber hose as it is after you put the SS hose part on and do a another clamp just to hold the SS in place. Is that possible or is the SS an essential part of the hosing?

There is probably some material that you can slip over an existing rubber hose to give a shiny look, but what we're talking about is a system of SS hose ends with flexible metal hose connecting them. The ends require clamps, and for some reason the ones supplied with the kits are sub-standard. Use some aftermarket clamps of good quality and there should be no problems.

When I did mine, I just replaced the junk clamps with some good SS clamps. I didn't even try the other clamps.
