Replacement headlights

I now have 7" dia "old style" sealed beam headlights. I want to get newer brighter headlights, maybe the new style "blue lights". I don't particularly like the Tri-bar style but the fluted style would be ok. I do not need any sort of turn signal inside the headlight. If i am reading the catalogs correctly the halogen bulbs that fit in the back of the new style headlights are refered to as H-4. I think these just plug-in to the rear of the headlight. my question is, do the prongs on the bulb simply plug into my existing 3 prong socket or would it have to be changed? Are the Xenon bulbs the "blue light" ones and do these bulbs get hot enough to cause a problem? I have checked the Speedway, Summit, Jegs, etc catalogs. Speedway has "replacement 7" headlights" fluted for $84.99 pair and "replacement 7" fluted headlights" for $129.99 pair. Are the less expensive pair made out of plastic and the higher cost pair made of glass? I just need simple answers to these questions "pretty please". Thanks

Larry,

If you go with plug in halogen be sure to handle the quartz bulb with a clean tissue and not your hands. The slight finger print that is left by the oils of your fingers will cause the quartz to shatter when it reaches temp.

I just converted mine over to Silver Star H-4's (they plug right in) with glass reflectors from sealed beams and it's GREAT. White light and much wider on low beam, no more sealed beam candles for me. Ran them to Cruisin the Coast in October and I can actually see the road now when the sun goes down. Harley
