removable top

thanks SS-T, when it comes to putting the snaps on to hold the top, who would do that? the interior person or should i have the body shop that is gonna paint the car? or is that something that is easy enough to do it yourself?

Th snaps were installed by the guy who made the cloth top for my frame so he could locate them where he needed to.
They were a threaded stud type with a nut on the inside so they could be removed for paint.

I am still having a hard time getting the 'folding' into my thick noggin. In your middle pic, it appears that the frame member that mounts to the side of the bucket, when folded down, would be too long to rest on the rear deck, or...?

Maybe a folded down pic would help.

how about going to a marine storage area and see if u can fine a boat with the top up and get pic's of that.. they fold down too.. thinking out loud.. ya and it hurt too...

I bought a Speedway top kit and then looked at Bimini top hardware for boats and came up with some parts to enable the Speedway top to fold. I haven't followed through on fabbing and installing the top, however, as it will require putting the body mounts right on top of my expensive flame job!! I didn't take that into consideration when the flames were designed.

Another point... I have talked to several people who have or had folding tops on their Ts. They all said the same thing... they never fold their tops!!

i want to put a top on mine, but will only be using it when i go on trips, and once i get there, i will want to take it off. i would love to find a removable hardtop, like the kind total performance use to sell before they closed down. i may be trying to design a top myself that will be easy to put up and take down. i will let everyone know when i do it, if it works

I use the folding top down on HiTec T when running around the city or at the drag strip some times and then put it up when on the highway to keep the wind down and off of my ears; so never is not always true, but not always is accurate in my case.
