I priced the material to build a frame which is 10 inches longer than the free plans on the T Bucket blog. It's around $170 local and some of it is DOM tubing for my split wishbone set up. I haven't purchased yet as I keep changing my mind on suspension and body style.
Sorry for the late reply. Lots going on here , none of it encouraging.
Cost of materials (2 x 3 x 3/16 rect tube) 3 x 8' lengths = a little under $150.
Finally got an answer from RPM. He can do what I want but did not quote a price. So this is a possibility. (Did quote $600 shipping !!!!)
Need to talk to him more.
Speedway also list a frame with all suspension and other mounts, but will NOT sell just the frame with mounts. They say they need to mock up the suspension to weld the mounts ... therefore it is only offered as a complete package (Frame, Front axle, front 4 bar, front shocks, steering box, rear axle housing (no diff), rear 4 bar, rear shocks). Don't ask me why they don't have jigs. Sounds very suspicious to me.
And Spirit offers a similar deal but does not do 4 bar (front or rear)
Thinking I'll get a body first to give me something to work on..... and get a "complete" frame/suspension package in a few months.
Any thoughts on Spirit extended body? Good or bad. I'm not tall, about 5'6", short legs and arms. But I do like to drive with arms almost straight and legs similar. Hate being all squished up
SO,
bottom line... STILL GOING AHEAD, just slightly delayed ... which I'm sure is going to be a common thing during the build.
Happy New Year, hope you all had a great Christmas.
