What is the generally accepted wire size to run from the alternator to the battery?

I used #8 Mark . Ran it from the Alt to the starter large post.

Yeah, 8 ga. would be great! I would say 10 ga minimum. That's what I'm using on my 100 amp alternator, with no problems so far.

What size alternator do you have? How long is the wire going to be?
NOTE: The distance in the table is both directions or round trip.

If you are running a 60 amp or higher do not use an amp gauge..use a volt meter instead....Dewey

Per Jesse's request, here are 3 pics of my wiring.

Notice how small the battery is, it's an Odyssey PC-680. Laying on it' side, it's
less than 3 inches tall.
