Best wheel width for 10-1/2 wide tires?

I found some 31" tall passenger car tires on Amazon I like. I want to go with Weld Draglites to match my old 3.5" wide front Draglites. What width should I look for? I can figure out my lug diameter, backspacing and all the rest. Thanks!

How did you arrive at that? I would have guessed more like 10".

I called Jeg's and asked. I had specifics on the tire, i.e. section Width is 10.5 in. The tech guy at Jeg's said 8" with no hesitation. (Plus nobody had replied here.)

I know with my old 18.5" meats, I ran a 15" wide tire, so 8" makes sense to me Bill.

Just trying to put a budget together. Right now I'd say about $1500 - $2000 would finish it. Wheels, tires, driveshaft and paint. Hmm.

Tight budget here Bill. I retired a month and a half ago, and Gail is looking to keep working a year and a half or two. We got savings, but I really don't want to tap it. Saving my monthly allowance!

I didn't quite make it; I was on the road in May of 2016, at the age of 71.
But I still feel like a teenager when I'm behind the wheel!

Hey Spanky and Frank. Just a thought for you guys. My best friend from high school and still best friend is responsible for me getting a bucket. He bought his in April, the same year I bought mine in July of 1992. That October we started one Saturday morning to fix an oil leak with his timing chain cover seal. The engine then was a 283 with tunnel ram and 2 4's with a 10 bolt and power-glide. Fast forward to now, he should ( I hope ) have it done and back on the road by maybe this summer I hope. Back tracking a bit he did get it running again back in 1996 for 2 seasons with a blown 350 and turbo 400 with a jag rear-end. That was a major redesign from the original car, putting it mildly. NOW fast forwarding to now the car has gone through another ultra major transformation. I and many others are in hopes he can get it finished by this summer. Trust me when I say, I think it is safe to say the world has never seen a Tbucket like this one. I am ultra anxious for it to make it's debut and when it is seen I hope all will understand why I feel this way. Hitec
