When I was a kid at the lake, that was the baddest motor you could have, and generally on boats bigger and heavier than your tunnel. I stick by my description, the boating version of a bucket-t.

Merc was 1st out the door with 100hp Bob. I don't think j-rude caught up for a while. This motor has never disappointed me, and I have to agree with ya, it's like having a V8 powered hot rod on the water!

I know Merc beat OMC to 100 hp for a couple of years. The few hot boats on Fallen Leaf Lake, just south of Tahoe, when I was 10, had that super tall motor, all 6 cylinders, all in-line, it was a take no prisoners clamp on that had the OMC V-4s shaking in their sandals.
Funny how we hooked up on a Bucket-T forum. But someone into the light weight Bucket-Ts would be into light weight tunnel hulls too.

Power Cats (including mine) were made in southern California up until 62 sometime Bob, so some of those tall stacked speedboats you saw might have been mine! They moved from Bellflower CA to TX sometime after my boat was built. I love the in-line 6's even today. You get em running right and take care of them, they are just awesome motors. The 1350 I'm building is like the 5th or 6th generation "Tower of Power" and has bigger cubes and lots more torque. It's gonna have to wait on the hot rod rebuild though. I got a regular day job and too many toys!
