hi guys whats an average price for two stage solid color paint job i have had est from 1000.00 to 6000.00

Depends on who does the prep work ... most of the cost of any paint job is the labor to do the prep.

I spent $87.00 on my paint job in actual paint ... it took me 4 months to get it ready to paint.

This paint job cost me $5,000 and they did all the prep.... high-build primer, epoxy primer, base coat of pearl, two coats black, three colors in the flames (on top of the pearl), two clear coats. I think I got a pretty good deal.

You should contact Milt about his post. I got a close up look at his paint job when in Artesia at Weelstang's meet in September. Milt did as good a job as any pro paint job I've ever seen. I forget which brand of paint that he used but, if I remember correctly, I think he sprayed the paint job in his driveway on a 'still' morning. You might be able to do the same. John

I expect my proposed two tone paint job will be done "in-house" by a very inexperienced painter. Then again, if I do all the prep, I may take the body to a painter. We'll see.

You might want to take a look at House of Kolor paint. I'm about as inexperienced as they come as far as painting goes but for me, it's very easy to get good results with it. I've painted my bucket and Shirley's, and a couple of others with it and never felt the need to apologize for the results.

If you do the prep and paint job yourself, the most important part of the whole operation is, make sure you turn off the air compressor before you call in sick!
