rear end gears

hi guys, im back for more info. plans are getting close to being finalized, ordering car in few weeks. looks like im going with 383 stroker engine and TH350 trans. it will have the tall mickey thompson tires on the back,ok thats what i do know, what i am trying to find out is what gears to run. i plan on doing mostly in town riding, having fun, wanting to go from light to light,, but i will also be driving my car to the different shows, it wont be on a trailer, what im trying to find out is what gears would b good to run, the TH350 does not have a overdrive, been thinking either 350's or 370. does anyone have any opinions on this matter?

I run 350 with that same transmission. Seems to work real well.

thanks jim, do u have any type of modifications to the engine or is it stock? (size carb, hp, etc?) and what type of milage you get on highway?

Isaltz, my set-up is a built 327 (over 400 hp ) with a TH350 trans and S-10 rearend with 3.73 gears. At 70 mph, I'm turning 3000 rpm. Rear tires are 29" MT. I get about 12 mpg (93 octane). Its great around town, real quick, but even though the 327 is a high revving eng, I feel that it's too many rrr's at highway speeds. If I had to do over, I'd go with 3.50 gears.

I have been looking at 3.55 for mine ... just can't come to terms for what they want for them for my JAG rear-end. Going to look at some swap meets in October before I make my mine up. Currently I am running 3.08 posi and the 3.55 is non-posi ... not that you need posi in a 1800 lb car. It is just the $950 exchange that is holding me back right now.

I'm running a 283 that is bored 30 over with a soft cam, 570 cfm Holley four barrel carb and I get about 17 mpg.

milt, i would love to put a corvette rear end or a jag, either one looks great on a t-bucket but i'll b sticking with my 9" ford, anyway we are only gonna b there for sat and sat night, but i will call or text you sat when we get in, maybe we can meet up. i will be at the speedway booth ordering my car. would love to see your car, thanks, isaac
